God
seems to work in ways to catch our attention if we are WATCHING. I was contacted to write a meditation for
Holy Spirit, and the date that I was given was April 8th! This happens to be my son’s birthday! So I was excited to dig into the verses and
SEE what God wanted to teach me. As I
read the verses, the theme that I came across was WATCHING, which was funny to
me as I come from a family of optometrists.
Maybe my EYES aren’t SEEING so clearly!
When
looking up the definition of EYE(S) in my bible, it says, “organ of sight, also
represents one’s understanding.” The
second part of the definition is the one that stood out to me. Our EYES represent our understanding. On this Earth we tend to FOCUS on things that
we can SEE. But with our faith we can
FOCUS on the unSEEN. We may not
understand the situation we are facing, being that we are struggling or being
blessed beyond measure, but our faith tells us to lift our EYES to our
Lord. He is Almighty; He is our Blessed
Controller, our Protector. “I lift up my
EYES to you, to you whose throne is in heaven.
…so our EYES LOOK to the Lord our God, till he SHOWS us his mercy.” Are our EYES always on the Lord in good times
and in bad? Be encouraged to LOOK to our
Protector and see His understanding of our circumstance.
“The
Lord will keep you from all harm – he will WATCH over your life; the Lord will
WATCH over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” To WATCH, defined
is “to be alertly on the lookout, look attentively, or observe, as to see what
comes, is done, or happens.” The verses
in Psalms either stated WATCH over, or PROTECTS. Both are such comforting thoughts that our
Lord Almighty WATCHES over and PROTECTS us!
“He will not let your foot slip – he who WATCHES over you will not
slumber…” While we may be tired, He will
not slumber. Let’s rest in knowing that
God WATCHES.
During
Lent, may we WATCH what is done and know that Jesus died for us. That God was the only one that understood His
plan until we could SEE the whole picture.
As we REFLECT on the happenings of Easter, may we thank our Lord, our
Savior, for dying for each of us, dying for our sins. And may we SEE that “The Lord has done great
things for us, and (be) filled with Joy!”
Thank
you, Lord, for the birth of our son 6 years ago today! This child was one that we prayed for for
years before we SAW how perfectly God made him.
During a journey of uncertainty, let’s place our EYES on the Lord and
SEE how He blesses us.
